"To be or not to be?"
After living in London for two years, Zax deciced that it was time to come home
to Toronto. Where his visions had originated, and dues had been paid. Back in Toronto he
acquired a new guitar a 70's Flying V and a Les Paul junior, the later given to him by an
old flat mate Dave Mctavish (ex. Beggar Boy / ex. Chronic's) and the currant B.C. bass player. The Black Currants originated
one fine day while Zax and his girlfriend were chilling over a pile of junk with Davey Mctavish. Rock
n' Roll Philosophy?
They decided the Big Music Companies were gettin too big for their britches. Becoming too repetitive
and disoriented, and unfortunately bringing the youth of today down to their level as well. Worms..
Cockroaches..Just Give Us a fightin' chance..and ..and We'll Show You. So they embarked on a journey.
Destination: Give The People What They Want! Crashing at Siesta Nouveaux in the Lowere East End they put
their energy into writing, rehearsing and plotting a scheme. After brutal hours spent auditioning drummers, up
came a charming young lad, who played their song's like he knew them already.
Still nameless at this point, Zax girlfriend recommended the name, knowing our gimmick and love of
the days gone bye, she thought it fitting. And thus the Black Currants were born.. Time For Eviloution.
